Banjara Hills as champions of the inaugural TG20 League. Truzon Solar, the team’s Title Sponsor,
had asked them there for one reason: to say thank you properly.
The side had won 10 of its 11 matches across a season played at the Rajiv Gandhi International
Cricket Stadium in Uppal. Captain Abhirath Reddy finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer.
Vice captain Ajay Dev Goud anchored the bowling. Neither of them, nor most of the squad, had
played in front of that kind of stage before this season existed.
Why a solar company backs a cricket team?
The honest answer has nothing to do with jerseys. Across India there is an enormous amount of
sporting talent that never reaches a professional platform, and a great deal of it sits in smaller
towns and districts far from the major centres. Talent is distributed everywhere. Opportunity is not.

Chief Guest V. Chamundeswaranath – former Andhra Cricket Captain, current BCCI Apex Council
Member and an investor in Truzon Solar – used his remarks to make a broader argument to the
room.
Indian cricket has never lacked talent. What it has lacked, at the grassroots
level, is financial certainty for young players and the basic infrastructure
that allows them to train seriously. Corporate India has an important role to
play here.

The evening
Every player and every member of the support staff was felicitated individually. Truzon Solar CEO
Jakkula Srinivas joined the Managing Director on stage. The ceremony closed with the
presentation of mementos and a squad photograph that ran the following morning in fifteen
publications across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
